Oscar Mayer Turkey Hot Dogs 25c/pk at Meijer

I scored the Jackpot at Meijer today. The regular Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs are on sale for $1.25/pk at Meijer this week. I noticed that the Hardwood Smoked Turkey Hot Dogs (my favourite) had $1/1 peelies, so (just out of curiosity) I decided to do a price check. I was doing my Happy Dance when the price showed as $1.25! I grabbed 10 packs.

I'm thinking of getting more. I prefer the Turkey dogs, to the regular hot dogs & its not often I can get them at a rock bottom price.

P&G has just increased the price of Charmin t/p (our favourite). I feel it's best to stock up when there's a rock bottom deal, since t/p doesn't expire.

I just read on WUC (we use coupons) that the small bottles of Gain Fabric Softener is $2.99 at RA. The good news - there will be a $3/1 Gain fabric softener Q in this coming weekend's redplum (RP 2/13). So, free fabric softener.

If you're at the 10 or 20% discount level, this might be a MM (YMMV). It is RAs policy to adjust the Q to match the item price, but some of my stores give overage.

These Qs ($3/1) are already listed on Ebay, so hurry to get yours before sellers increase their prices.

PS. The Gain might be free at other stores too. I'll definitely do a price check the next time I'm at Meijer & CVS.

I'm so excited about this Ziploc deal. I decided to get the sandwich bags - (not that we need any more) that some bloggers are reporting to be on sale for $1.86. There were no signs advertising the sale at my store, so I did a price check. Imagine my surprise when the price showed as $1.50.

As some of you know, our 19yr old cat has been sick for a while. Last nite we had her put to sleep, because she was in really bad shape yesterday. DH says she's better off this way, because she's no longer suffering & she's at peace. But it's still very hard for us to lose her - I've just been a mess.

Getting the most from MyPoints

I'm so excited, I finally have enough points for a $50 Macy's GC from Mypoints. Now I know that many of the hounds on the grocery challenge get drugstore GCs with their points. I would definitely not mind getting a free CVS GC, but after some careful consideration I figured I'd be better off getting a Macys GC. Let's look at the numbers:

$50 Macy's GC = 6350 points
$50 CVS GC = 7100 points
$50 WAGS GC = 7150 points

I shop at all the above mentioned stores. I figured that if I get the Macy's GC (instead of a drugstore one), I'll have 750-800 points towards my next reward. So, for less points, I'll be getting the same amount of money. And if I keep getting the Macy's GCs, then it means that I'll be getting more money for my points.

I love shopping at Macy's One day sale. I often score super cheap DKNY (my favourite brand) and Calvin Klein jeans for under $10. Yep, I'm a clearance rack/section junkie. And I can normally find a clearanced Alfred Dunner item for my mom.

But I also need a bottle of my favourite perfume that retails for $90! I've purchased a bottle on ebay before, but it was not the real deal. Perfume is the one item that I don't mind paying full price for.

Ugh, my mail carrier didn't deliver our ads this week. I prefer having a hard copy of the ad in front of me. I know I can't miss any good deals this way :D Well, it turns I didn't miss anything this week - the Meijer ad is awful! I can't find any good deals. Even the lovely coffee-mate is at a phantom sale price. Thank goodness for Oakridge. They double coupons up to $1. So with the new 75c Q(yep, we don't even get the 50c Q anymore), I was able to get Coffeemate for 50c at Oakridge.

But there's some good news. Super cheap Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs/Wieners (I still don't understand the difference. In South Africa, they are called Viennas and that's it. I don't even know if there's a difference between a hot dog & wieners or if its the same thing).

I have to apologise for not posting any Meijer deals this week. I'm just been a mess these past few days.

About 10 days ago, our 19 yr old "kitty" (yes, we still call her kitty) got sick. At first DH thought it was a cold, cause she was constantly sneezing & wouldn't eat. He got her some different food at the pet store and she was eating well again. But she still didn't look right to us. Then last week, he took her to the vet and was told that her kidneys are failing. When DH told me on Friday night that its just a matter of time, I just broke down & cried. I can't handle losing her. I cry every day & check on her every ½ hour or so, just to pet and talk to her.

Huggies wipes are $2.50 at WAGS (price may vary from state to state). Use $1/1 IVC and 75c Man Qs, to get them for 75c/tub. If you have enough Qs and your store has enough inventory, then buy 10 tubs, get $5 RR and pay only 25c + tax per tub. Here's the scenario:

10 x Huggies Wipes at $2.50 each = $25.00
Less $1/1 IVC (In store Flyer) = (10.00) - this is the new 01/27 -02/27 IVC flyer. Looks like its in place of the coupon booklet we normally get.
Less 10 x 75c Man Qs (SS 1/17) (7.50)

Get back $5 RR for spending $25! That's 25c/tub

If you don't have enough Qs or your store doesn't have enough inventory, you'll end up paying 75c/tub.

Meijer CATS DO still roll

Yesterday I went to Meijer to do the Scotts Wipes deal (it was the last day of the sale). I had 4 Qs, so I did 2 Transactions. I paid the $3.15 OOP (our wipes were $2.49, not $1.99 each) on the first deal and got the $3 CAT.

Transaction 2, I did the same deal again & used 2 Qs and the $3 CAT (i didn't even bother to see if it says it won't roll). I just figured I'd rather use the CAT, than spend the OOP. Paid 15c (tax) and got another $3 CAT.

When I got home & cleaned out my purse (I always take out receipts & change when I get home) and read the CAT. It says that another CAT (for the same deal) won't print, if you pay with this CAT. I thought "no siree, that's not true. It just worked for me".

Now I don't know if this will work on all CAT deals, but it definitely worked yesterday. I really don't mind if CATs don't roll, because I do the bulk of my grocery shopping at Meijer. So there's always an opportunity for me to use CATs at another time.

Operation Christmas Child 2010

Nope, the 2010 is not a typo. Above you'll see a pic of free items I've started collecting for next year's Operation Christmas Child. Every year my son's school participates in the programme. They ask for all kinds of donations (empty shoeboxes, gift wrap, tape, gift items, cash for shipping) during the month of October. The students will pack & wrap the boxes, which will be sent to Samaritan's Purse for distribution.

This year, my goal was to collect/purchase 300 buddies. But that goal fell flat when the lovely J&J CAT stopped printing :-( I had a good run while it lasted & was able to collect 100 buddies soaps & loads of other items.

I had a trunkful of gift items (soap, toothbrushes & paste, gift wrap, cellotape, school supplies, HBA items). Unfortunately I didn't take a pic. And momof1anddog from the grocery challenge, donated a huge bag full of items. So I'm sure that the shool's goal to pack 100 boxes, will be met this year.

As you can see above, I've already started shopping for next year's donations. The Uno Cards & soap were free at Kroger. The cellotape I used as fillers at WAGs, so they were free too. I just paid sales tax. I'm planning on going bigger next year. This brings me to the pic below:

You're probably wondering what this is. Well, it costs $7 to ship one box. It's one thing to donate all the items for the boxes (and to try & send even more boxes than this year) - but how will they (the school) pay the high shipping costs? It will be $700 just to ship 100 boxes.

Our state (MI) has been hit hard by the recession and not everyone can afford to donate cash. So I've decided that in order to help cover shipping charges (for some of my donations), I'm gonna start saving all my pennies. It only takes 2c a day (for one year) to ship one box. I started my penny fund one week ago, and I've already saved 49c! That's 7c a day. If I can average 7c-8c per day, I can save enough to cover the shipping for 4 boxes! It might not sound like much, but that's 4 less boxes to worry about.

I urge anyone who's interested, to join me in this challenge. We always get pennies in change when we go shopping. And I know that most people don't like to hang on to change/coins. So why not put those pennies to good use? They will help bring a smile to a needy child somewhere in this world.

I'm so excited to have found this deal. I went to CVS with a big plan to use my B3G1F Hershey Bags & the fun size bags coupons and 10/50. However, that deal didn't pan out. But it's a good thing, because I found this Moneymaker deal.

The Hershey Special Dark 8ct bar packs are advertised at 2/$3. However, they are ringing up at $1 each. Use the $1/1 Hershey Dark Bar/Bag Q (SS 9/27). Buy 20 (if you can find that many Qs) and get back $5 EB.
